The Process

Rosen Method touch is the key to the process. Bringing awareness to the inner body, Rosen Method touch helps in opening and removing the layers of tension that separate us from our authentic self.

The practitioner's intention is to meet, with listening hands, all layers of tension and make them conscious, and, at the same time, to reach for the innermost self beneath the layers.

  • physical layers of tightness, stuckness, and numbness, holding the memories of ancient/recent traumas, unresolved wounds and painful emotions are made conscious and let go
  • more subtle blocked energies of forgotten thoughts, stored memories, buried feelings still lodged in the body are made conscious and let go
  • deeper, unconscious, confining energies of knots-patterns-attitudes-defenses are made conscious and let go

As the process unfolds and consciousness gradually re-enters blocked areas of the body, the client may experience a deeper sense of self as if uncovering an inner well. Coming to the well, we allow unconscious wisdom, suppressed love, creativity, untapped healing energy to become conscious, come back to life, expand and continue to flower in daliy living.

The Method

Rosen Method bodywork is a slow, organic process done in private sessions. Each session lasts one hour and is totally confidential.

Rosen Method is a "meditation in relationship" where both the practitioner and the client enter into and develop together a field of awareness and co-inspiration, a collaboration of discovery.

When we give a session ( as a practitioner or as a student )

  • our hands are full of awareness, communicating awareness to our client's body, re-awakening areas they touch and hold
  • our hands listen to the different layers of tension and offer the specific pressure needed to make contact
  • showing and teaching the client to feel the full range of body states of constrictions and openings
  • we keep peeling away the protective layers, we witness what arises, we invite dialogue with our client to support the opening
  • we track the breathing patterns of our client , watching how the breath shifts when tension is released; at times, we notice and feel that a deeper easier flow of energy is now moving through the core of their body; this signals moments of relaxation when the true self may emerge; we make a point of bringing those precious moments into the awareness of the clients and support them in fully having the experience of their true self

When we are receiving a session ( as a client or as a student )

  • the hands of the practitioner are communicating with us
  • we stay alert to all parts of ourselves, the light and the dark, the joyful and the painful
  • we learn to notice and feel sensations of stiffness versus softness, of holding versus relaxing
  • we allow buried emotions to float up to awareness, without judging them, without engaging in their story, staying focused on the feeling experience within the body
  • We learn to find the words that will enhance our awareness of the moment
  • When our protective layers soften, and our breath expands naturally, a deeper relaxation occurs: we reach the core of our body
  • we are then in touch with a different sense of self: we learn to recognize those moments of wholeness and to dwell in them

"Do you believe there is some place that will make the soul less thirsty?
Be strong then,
And enter into your own body;
There you have a solid place for your feet."
